I have joined in with Kelly Kent's Social Stamping Blog Host.

Kelly has chosen the Theme: 'War & Peace'.
Today is Anzac Day
A National day of rememberence in Australia, and New Zealand, commemorating all who served and died in all wars, conflicts and peace keeping operations.

I have created a couple of projects for Anzac Day;
I have decorated glass jars we used as lanterns, and a decorated jar containing Anzac biscuits.

I started out making die-cut poppies & leaves using the 'Poppy Moments Dies', adhering the poppy to the rim of the jar.
I wrapped some 'Peaceful Poppies DSP' around the base of LED tealights, and placed them onto sand sitting in the bottom of the jar.
There are some sprigs of Rosemary within the jar as well.

The lanterns sitting on our letterbox at dawn.

Holding the lantern, facing East for our #AnzacatHome in our driveway at dawn.
The sounds of bugles around our town, calling the 'Last Post', was very moving. I cry everytime I hear it!

A little snapshot of us from this morning, following the Dawn Service in our driveway.
People in our street were in their driveways, holding candles or lanterns, and our neighbour had her radio on and we were listening to the commemorative service broadcast from the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

And a pretty jar filled with home made Anzac biscuits.
*I have used a large Moccona Coffee jar for size.

Recipe: 1 cup rolled oats, 1 cup Plain Flour, 2/3 cup sugar, 1/3 cup Brown sugar, 3/4 cup dessicated coconut, 125g (4oz) butter, 2 Tbsp golden syrup, 1/2 tsp Bicarbonate of soda, 1 Tbsp boiling water.
Method: Preheat oven to 150deg C.
Combine the oats, sifted flour, sugars and coconut.
Combine the butter and golden syrup, stirring over gentle heat until melted.
Mix bicarb soda with boiling water, add to melted butter mixture, then stir into dry ingredients.
Take teaspoonfuls of the mixture and place onto lined baking trays.
Bake for 20 mins, and cool on trays.

The 'Peaceful Poppies DSP' band measures 5cm x 30cm, or 2" x 12".
The band doesn't quite reach around the jar, leaving a gap of 7cm or 2-3/4" - you can add another strip of DSP to cover it, or I just simply left it.
Adhering the poppy onto the front of the jar.

The medals are replicas of my husbands' Grandfather's from WWII.
Our boys wear them during the Anzac Day March, which didn't occur today.

Thankyou for being here, and enjoy seeing the blogs with their 'Peace & War' creations. There are some amazing and talented people in this group. Next up is the beautiful hostess with the mostest; Kelly!
